By statute, the Council’s purpose is to advise the Department of Health and Family Services, the Governor, the Legislature and the public on progress in implementing the state’s 10-year public health plan and coordination of responses to public health emergencies. The 23 members of the Council were appointed by Governor Jim Doyle and met for the first time in October 2004.
